Home of the Arts: amongst all the glitz and the glamour.

Sunrise is an Australian breakfast show program. It is broadcast on the Seven Network, and as of April 2025 is hosted by Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington. The program follows Sunrise Early News, and runs from 5:30 am to 9:00 am.

MATT: Well, it's lights camera and action this morning with the iconic Gold Coast Film Fetsivla well and truly underway after last night's spectacular Awards Gala.

NAT: Yes, Sally Pearson is live, she's at the Home of the Arts amongst all the glitz and the glamour. We hear you actually have a cameo in one of the films!

SALLY: Thank you, Nat, I am so glad you mentioned it. Yes, I did play a cameo in one of the films and I am here with Jane Larkin who is the director and one of the stars of the film called THE EDGE. Now, Jane, you are a woman of many talents. You started off as an established athlete you've represented Australia in sprinting in athletics. You've also, overt he last few years, worked really hard in Ron Howard's THIRTEEN LIVES and played a speaking part as Penny in BOY SWALLOWS UNIVERSE. Now this woman is amazing. And now she has turned her attention to directing, and this is the first film that you've ever directed. It's called THE EDGE, and you're also one of the stars of the film as well, so tell us what your role was and what that whole directing field was like for you. well

JANE: Thank-you for that intro, Sally. Yes, I show-ran the film, which means I wrote it, directed it, starred in it, and produced it... producing is very difficult too. And I'm just really proud of it. It's about three female elite athletes so I think it's just really good representation and it's about their trials and tribulations in their sporting fields but their personal lives too.

SALLY: And you are about to be a mum, so you are doing it absolutely all. This film is premiering tonight here, and how does it feel that your film is finally going to hit the big screens.

JANE: Oh, I'm so excited. There's a little bit of nerves, obviously. But nerves as we know as athletes we use to drive our talent and what-not, so I'm just hoping it's received well. It's been an amazing festival so far, so I'm happy to be here.

SALLY: Well, congratulations again and Jane's film THE EDGE is premiering tonight here at HOTA, and I will be hitting the red carpet as well.

MATT: So good, just quickly - what was your role, Sal?

SALLY: Well, actually, it was a commentary role. So I was commentating a race in the film and I'm very proud of it too. It was my first commentating role that I've ever done.

MATT: There you go, watch out Oscars!

NAT: There you go! Keep an eye on it. Let's go check sport this morning.
